President’s Message

Our October auction was a great success, thanks to all the members who donated plants and to those that bid on the plants. The plants looked great. There were some great buys and some highly sought-after plants. thanks to Sharon and Audrey for doing the accounting work, to George for taking on the auctioneer position and to Daisy and the Walches for the auction support.

We are settling in to our new location. At the last meeting the members voted to have our Holiday Party at ODU. To have our event in a nicer setting at ODU the Board approved moving the Holiday Party to the 2nd Sunday of December which will be December 14th starting with appetizers and a cash bar at 5:30PM.  this will be followed by dinner, show table awards and review of that evenings show table. Mark your calendars and we will take your reservations at our November meeting, or mail your payment to Sharon Peterson, 623 Bartell Drive, Chesapeake, VA, 23322-5754. We will keep the cost at $25.00 per person with TOS contributing the balance. It should be a great time for all.

The Merrit Huntington Symposium is just around the corner. It is here in town so let’s have a great show of support from TOS.

See you November 2nd.

Thanks

Ruta Mah

Library

The TOS library is now available at the Kaplan Conservatory. We have many fine and informative books for your use. Now that it’s more convenient to check out a book take the time to come and browse. The library, as planned now, will be available during the tours an hour before meeting time. Currently the only other time you may check out a book is if I, Charles Rhodes, am at the Conservatory on a Tuesday. My hours may change weekly, so contact me at roadytoad@cox.net to find out when I’ll be there.
