August/September
2006
Meeting:
June 27, 2:00PM, Mills Godwin Auditorium at ODU. Speaker to be
President’s
Message
Sunday August 27th is the start of our orchid meetings. I hope you are
well rested and looking forward to the coming year. Hopefully both you and your
orchids made it through the hot spell unscathed. Unfortunately, several of mine
suffered whilst we were away on our travels. Sarah and I were on a cruise and
one of the dining areas contained 60 or 70 tables. Every table had a Phal plant
in bloom on it. So apart from going around and admiring them, I never sat at the
same table twice.
I am sure that the next year will be an interesting one. We will have
some good guest speakers and I would like to see us putting on a show and even
having a couple of classes about orchids for our newer members.
Don’t forget to come a little early as I am sure you will want to talk
to and catch up with how old friends are doing.
The Virginia Orchid Society presents a special event with two speakers,
Fred Clarke and H. P. Norton, on September 9, 2006, 1-5 p.m. at Lewis
Ginter Botanical Garden, Richmond, Va. Info: www.vaorchidsociety.org
Also let me remind you that dues for the 2006-2007 year are now late. Please see Sharon Peterson at the meeting to pay.
Thanks,
Dave Wheatley

Announcement
Someone
left a very nice folding
beach chair, tan with aqua and white stripes, here after the TOS picnic. If
it’s yours please call. My apology for being the mid afternoon entertainment
with my fall. My eye is fine after Ruta so kindly sutured the laceration in the
brow area. My leg is not so pretty but will be 100% in due time. For everybody's
information the contract to build the orchid conservatory at ODU has been
awarded. We are off and running,
