I retired from the US Navy after serving 22 years 10 months and 10 days of dedicated Submarine Service as a Master Chief Torpedomans Mate, Submarine Service TMCM (SS) USN Ret

My first boat was the USS Halibut (SSGN/SSN 587)

The Halibut was an interesting tour of duty. She was the first nuclear powered guided missile firing submarine and also the first US Navy submarine to complete the Navy's SubSafe overhaul after the loss of the USS Thresher.  Several books about the boat have been written including  SPY SUB and BLIND MAN'S BLUFF , which I would highly recommend as worth reading.

USS Fulton AS-11

I was also stationed on the USS Fulton (AS-11) for four long, cold, wet, miserable years where I was in the Astor (MK 45) Torpedo Shop and the Subroc shop, the ship was homeported in New London, Connecticut.
